- China Telecom recently has begun inviting a purchase tender for Smartphone models based on CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) technology, beginning on October 13, the Sina News reported on October 16. Companies who are interested in participate in the bidding should submit applications before October 21. Additionally, China Telecom will focus on the purchase of entry-level Smartphone models with a price tag of around 1,000 RMB (US$147.1; US$1 = 6.8 RMB) and mid-range and high-end flagship Smartphones, Sinocast Daily Business Beat News reported on October 16, citing Ma Daojie, general manger of Telecom Terminal Co., a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Telecom.

- China Unicom announced on October 14 that the company will begin to sell iPhones on October 30 instead of on October 15 as originally planned, the Sina Tech News reported on October 14. Two iPhone models, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS, will be available in the market from the date on, of which iPhone 3G will be available in 8GB size, while iPhone 3GS will be available in 16GB and 32GB sizes. At the same time, China Unicom also revealed eight types of monthly service plans ranging from 126 RMB (US$18.8) to 886 RMB (US$130.3), according to Xinha News on October 14. Users who subscriber 24-month contract plan paying 126 RMB (US$18.8) per month and prepay 3,000 RMB (US$441.2) as deposit can buy a iPhone 3GS 16GB model at 3,999 RMB (US$588.1). Without subscribing to any service plan, users can also buy a iPhone 3G 8GB model at 4,999 RMB (US$735.1), iPhone 3GS 16GB model at 5,880 RMB (US$864.7), and iPhone 3GS 32GB model at 6,999 RMB (US$1029.3).
